Hydro-Electric Power

Hydro-electricity was the first method used to create electricity for the masses. In short, it is created by finding a waterway where a high differential of, "height" between upstream and downstream can be created in a short horizontal distance. Niagara Falls was one of the first areas on the Planet to see this method used.

But it was not really started until after scientists decided how electricity could be best transmitted over long distances. There were strong proponents to the use of the DC (Direct Current) model, as used in your car and it was a close race until the economics of the science finally came to light. DC transmission was limited to a couple of miles and that was not going to work for the project.

It was only after Nicola Tesla invented 3 Phase Power that there was a method by which electricity could be generated in one place, transmitted over copper wires to another part of the countryside and then used for light. Once the distribution issue was resolved, electricity generation and distribution changed toe World forever.

But, hydro-electricity was only the beginning.
